Dawn Nilsen, Certified Teacher, is a graduate of the University of Southwestern Louisiana.  She has teaching certifications in both Secondary English and Special Education.  She taught at Opelousas High School and The Good Shepherd Montessori School.  Dawn now home schools her two children, Rebecca and JR.  She is currently the Director of the Classical Conversations of Opelousas campus.  She is a classically trained tutor. 

Yvette Blanchard, Owner, received her formal education from LSU-Monroe and LSU-Baton Rouge.  She is a tutor through an Orton Gillingham influenced program and a Dyslexia Counselor and Screener where she completed her studies as a Dyslexia Counselor and Screener on a graduate level. She strives to bring practical solutions with scientific based applications in areas of Reading, Spelling, Comprehension and Fluency.
As a mother of 4 uniquely gifted children, it became her hearts mission to empower parents to be advocates for their children. She specializes in customizing tutoring lessons which teach to a child strength while strengthening their weaknesses. For 12 years, she has counseled parents, groups and has spoken at conferences regarding learning styles and techniques. Her passion is to create a learning experience where a student can embrace their journey and relax in their "growth-to-bloom" stage. Every person travels their path at a different speed but exactly on time.  She offers tutoring that is explicit, multisensory and systematic yet individualized.  Using brain integration while instructing, she introduces learning while igniting left-right, front to back and top to bottom processing.

Courtney Decou, Certified Teacher, has had a life-long love of learning. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Louisiana. She has been actively involved in elementary education for thirteen years and is the proud mother of three children. She has experience in teaching, tutoring, and homeschooling. She believes that every student deserves the personalized hands-on approach, which is available at The Reading Center. She is committed to helping students gain the confidence and skills they need to succeed.


Holly Comeaux, Reading Tutor, is a classically trained tutor who received her degree from LSUE.    She has been married for over twenty years and is a blessed homeschool mom of two. She writes a monthly column for a local periodical and is actively involved in her church as a children’s teacher.
Holly believes that every child is uniquely and wonderfully made and everyone has the ability to learn.   She desires to help students unlock their full potential through a multi-sensory program.   She enjoys working with students and personalizing the instruction that best fits each pupil.   She considers it a privilege to tutor and is excited about the opportunity for students to find freedom in learning.
